Vacation Gear - Go Without These and You Could Ruin Your Vacation
Your vacation gear make all the difference on
your adventure trip. Think how important every piece of your
mountain
climbing gear is on your mountain adventure.
It's not just what you take, but the condition
and quality of your gear. Can you afford your equipment to fail? No.
Although it would be impossible to name every
piece of vacation gear you would need on your trip, this mention will
serve to suppress any neglect you might have prior to leaving for your
next vacation.
Why is it important to remember your vacation
gear?
If you are on a camping or hiking vacation in
remote country, you may find it difficult to find items for the outdoors
if you left them at home. The type of your
vacation gear will vary depending on the vacation, of course. As a general
rule, I usually try to picture what I would need for each event I plan to
engage in. I always need my digital camera - no
matter what the kind of vacation. Other items on your vacation gear list
could be GPS navigation, road atlas, bike racks, and camping equipment if
you are going mountain climbing, hiking, or bike riding. Here are some reminders
from actual personal experiences: 1 - First Aid First
Never take your family on a vacation without
carrying a first aid kit. This is especially true when you have young
children. With that said, then think of the band
aid, disinfectant, scissors, antiseptic ointment, pain killers, smelling
salts, sun screen lotion, etc. You never know what
situations you might run into. Always be prepared. 2 - Will your tent stand up?
Usually we go camping with one of those
6 Plus Person Tents
that give everyone a comfortable space to rest while holding all that
other 'stuff' some people always want to carry.
Never leave your tent stakes on a camping trip. Also, remember your
tools needed to fasten your tent. I usually get these ready for the next
trip immediately after cleaning and repair on when I get back home.
3 - Vehicle equipment and tools
Although you may have one of those connected cars with 24-hour vehicle
assistance service like OnStar, you don't want to experience a flat tire.
Check your spare, and carry a tire inflator canister.
Don't take a vehicle that needs servicing on a trip far away from home.
Who wants to ride back on a tow-truck anyway?
A cigarette lighter cell phone charger and DC-AC inverter that I use in my
Toyota truck are more than convenience items whenever I go out of town.
4 - Sporting or Recreation Equipment
Will you need your bike? How about toys for the children - especially
those they can use while you travel?
Gather up all your fishing gear if you are ever going to fish. Don't get
caught without them!
Special Note: I like to get my camping and vacation gear from
people who have experience in the outdoors. REI is my favorite and they
have
Closeout prices on top-brand camping gear .
