A Hot Summer Vacation Idea You Can Cool Off With
Got a hot summer vacation idea? You'd better do
something other than shipping the kids off to grandma's. Summer camp won't
last all summer either. You've got to have a bang this summer.
Summer is hot, and staying at home with the kids
all home from school is not the hottest idea at all. So what do you do to
cope with the heat?
Summer vacation Idea - Take it to the road
This summer vacation idea came from my children
last year. And we did hit the road for a
Tennessee vacation, and a short Florida trip.
Instead of flying to far away places, just go for
the ride. Make sure you have comfortable seating - make frequent stops if
you have to.
This can be a lot of fun as long as you put some
thought into it. Aim to stop at places of interest. Historic sites,
museums, monuments, and sporting events make great reasons to stop.
With this summer vacation idea, you can maximize
your fun by taking visiting several destinations and events in a short
time. Try it and see how you lose track of time.
Next Summer Vacation Idea - On the Island
Spending a large portion of my life on an island,
I have come to appreciate island summers. The breezes that regulate the
summer temperatures are not far when you are on an island.
You begin to wonder why does it feel so much cooler in Nassau, Bahamas on
a July day than it does in Dallas, TX - further north? The answer is
blowing in the wind. It's not only for the cooling
sea breeze that this is a great summer vacation idea, think of the cool
clear waters too.
Nothing cools you down a throws in a tan for good
measure than a few hours at the beach on an island. I have lived that
summer island life for many years - it's wonderful. Go Camping - The
Wild Summer Vacation Idea
Every summer we pack our tent and go off even for
one week at a family or group camp in the wild somewhere.
If you have never taken it to the campgrounds in
the summer, then either go for a day with the kids or for a number of days
with a larger group. Make sure you take your
camping gear and supplies like insect repellent and tanning lotion.
Let the kids leave the TV and video games for
awhile. If they are doing that for the first time, expect some hesitancy.
This will soon turn to a why-are-we-going-back-so-early question.
My family has always had tremendous fun camping at State Parks - such as
those owned by Texas Park and Wildlife. We have also found the summers out
in nature in Georgia and Alabama are wonderful lifetime moments treasured
by the whole family. |
