Rafting Vacation
Everyone should have a rafting vacation at least
once in their life. There is adventure for the dare devil white water
rafters as well as for those - like me - who just want to relax and enjoy
nature.
Oh, how nice it is to drift away from the hustle
and bustle of work and rush. To go on a raft that takes you by
lush, green, pristine landscape is a healing experience.
My First River Rafting Adventure
Rafting is romantic. A rafting vacation is a romantic getaway. My first
rafting experience goes back to our honeymoon. Our rafting on the Rio
Grande river in Jamaica was a thrilling and unforgettable experience.

Rafting is a one-of-a-kind experience in the Portland area of east
Jamaica. You don't have to be a nature lover, but you can't help being
drawn to the scenery along the Rio Grande River from your perch on those
bamboo crafts. It's as if the whole scene just shouts at you in
tranquility and serenity. Know what I mean?
Well, that part of Jamaica gets most of the rainfall on the Caribbean
island. The vegetation is lush and green. You are really with nature on
your trip down the Rio Grande in Jamaica.
Although you can raft as many times as you wish,
there is so much to enjoy when you visit Jamaica - and the attractions are
relatively close by.
A rafting vacation can (and should) be a
multi-activity event. You can:
-
Go on an organized hike to the Blue Mountains.
Yes, breathe the fresh country air - all the way up to 7,402 feet. From
that peak, you might be lucky to see Cuba on a clear day, and certainly
look down on the rest of the island of Jamaica. I encountered a sunrise on
the Blue Mountain peak in Jamaica - it was simply beautiful.
-
Spend a lazy afternoon at the picturesque Blue
Lagoon. Learn how to let time get away and enjoy it.
-
Visit water falls - Portland also has famous
Summerset Falls. Guided tours are available to these places and more.
The idea is that a rafting vacation in Jamaica
gives you a unique experience cruising one of the island's famous rivers,
and many opportunities to enjoy the many other attractions in the same
area.
Bamboo Raft vs. Inflatable Raft
When you mention a rafting vacation, it is easy
to quickly think of an inflatable raft that can hold multiple persons.
However, there is a uniqueness in a bamboo raft. It is special.

It is not motorized, and more or less,
current-driven. Some types of inflatable raft can accommodate a powered
engine. For me, this boat-like operation takes away from the tranquility
and relaxation of the ride.
If you have your rafting vacation in the United
States, e.g. on the Rio Grande in Texas, you may have used different types
of rafts. The inflatable
