Kayaking Vacation
Probably I won't be having a kayaking vacation on
a swift river course for now. I consider
kayaking under such conditions to be in the extreme sports category.

Tip for your Kayaking vacation plans - river
courses are more challenging than sea or lakes.

Some people may disagree, I know, and I guess it depends
on whether you take your kayak to the river, the lake, or the ocean. I
prefer the lake or the ocean. What do you prefer?
More so than canoeists, kayakers need to be good swimmers. So if you
are thinking about a kayaking vacation on a river course or in a placid
lake, you should either (a) be able to swim well, or (b) go with a guide.
Of course, there are no shortage of guided kayaking tours
nowadays. It's not like back in the early days of the Inuits, where you've
got to paddle your own boat. You and your trusty guide can get into a
double kayak and you're gone for the ride! Aquatically chauffeured, if you
please.
If you want your own gear - maybe to practice on
your own lake - I would recommend taking a look at various brands at
REI.com.
