Bring a Beach Toy if You Carry the Kids, or You'll be the Celebrated
Beach Bum!
Have you ever gone to the beach and forgot to take a beach toy? Not even
your beach ball? So what will the kids do on a family trip to the beach
when they are tired of swimming?
Or, even if you've gone to the pool...
You thought you'd only have time for a short swim. But wait...
Everyone brought their beach toy. You brought yourself. So you're a bum.
I looked up the meaning of the word bum in the dictionary and it means
-
A tramp; a vagrant.
-
A lazy or shiftless person, especially one who seeks to live solely by the
support of others.
-
An incompetent, insignificant, or obnoxious person
-
One who is devoted to a particular activity or milieu: a beach
bum.
Ha! Ha! Don't call me a beach bum. I always carry a ball, a float (such as
a rubber tube), beach toys for the kids to build castles in the sand -
that's their most permanent constructs, anyway.
Well, not quite. If you ever take your family on a trip to the beach and
forget to take even one beach toy, your kids will not forget how dull you
are.

Here are some beach toy suggestions. They will apply to you
depending on the ages of your kids, or on what kind of fun you want
to have on your trip to the beach... |
-
Front loader sand toy - Kids will have fun on the beach
with this
-
Various size beach balls - Kids and adults alike will have
fun with beach balls. Be careful when chasing balls from the shore,
though.
-
Radio-controlled boat - With so much water around, this
is the perfect time to launch that RC boat or plane. Your bath tub
is too small. Now you have the ocean. What better place to test
the capabilities!
-
Floatation devices - These are necessary for
non-swimmers and should hardly be called 'toys'. However, if you
brought along a tired body to the beach, bring a good float and go
for the ride. ALWAYS PLAY IT SAFE.

What's the chance of my forgetting to bring along a beach toy, by the way?
I think, nill, zero! My guys, start behaving like they're on the beach
long before they get there.
It's a bad feeling when you have to ask a stranger to borrow his/her beach
toy. I have nursed that regret before, and I will not do it again.
So bring at least one beach toy that the family can share the fun with.
And don't be a beach bum, bring a tool and create some fun.
